How did your partner propose?

He organised a picnic whilst we were away on a staycation and we found the perfect spot with a view of the sea as it’s one of my favourite views. Whilst we were finishing up our picnic and champagne, he began to make some sort of speech and when I turned around he was on one knee!

What’s the best piece of advice you received in the run up to your wedding?

Make sure you eat on the day of the wedding and stop worrying about all your guests, think about only you and your partner.

How did you go about finding your wedding dress?

I looked online for some styles of what I’d like, via Instagram, Pinterest, google search etc. Then I found a few boutiques/dress shops nearby and booked appointments. I found my dress in Fross which was the first and only boutique I went to.

How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?

My dress was the first I tried on, but I continued to try other styles and dresses just to be sure. I tried a total of 7 dresses and went back to the first!

Do you know the name of your dress designer?

Justin Alexander

What made you fall in love with the dress that you chose?

Even though the dress in store was the wrong size to the point that it didn’t even do up, I felt so confident and comfortable I knew it was the one. I also cried each time I tried it on (right up until the last appointment with the seamstress the week of the wedding).

Did you wear a veil and/or any other bridal accessories?

I wore a veil that I purchased from Fross.

Tell us a little about your wedding day – the vibe, what inspired you, etc.

I knew I wanted a simple, classic theme of whites and greens and natural flowers. I mixed this with shabby chic style accessories and decorations. The venue is naturally beautiful and I didn’t want to detract from that, so I added some simple additions and it was stunning. It’s very easy to look at pictures on social media of other weddings and compare your vibe/theme, it’s especially easy to get sucked into trends and think you’re doing it all wrong but actually it’s your day so style how you like! The weather was lovely, slightly cloudy but dry and sunny. We were lucky enough to have all our guests there despite the last two years worth of restrictions and everyone really enjoyed themselves. We had some really nice moments just the two of us too. The dance floor was where it was at though!

What was your favourite moment from the day itself?

I think the first dance – it was the moment I was dreading most because we’re not very serious people and a slow dance wasn’t up our street. We picked a song we know would get everyone on the dance floor and make us feel most comfortable. As soon as the fast part of the song kicked in, Dan and I split and jumped all over the place, it felt like a massive release of all the worry and stress running up to the wedding day. Everyone joined in and it felt like a massive group hug.

Is there any advice you would be happy to share with other brides?

Try not to sweat the small stuff, it’s easier said than done but on the day, small things don’t matter and you will be so consumed by everything and everyone celebrating you, that you won’t even notice!

Are you taking a honeymoon and if so when (in relation to your wedding, ie, immediately after, or sometime later) and what are your plans?

We went on a ‘mini moon’ to Greece for two weeks a few days after our wedding. It was the first long stretch of holiday either of us had taken off work for a year so we rested a lot and ate/drank a lot. We plan to save and do a once in a lifetime honeymoon in a few years time, hopefully once travel is a little more flexible and simpler!
