We are so happy for Georgie as she was able to have a relaxed countryside wedding with her close friends and family during coronavirus. With so many brides having to cancel or delay their wedding date, we are celebrating for Georgie and so happy you were able to marry the person of your dreams! We loved getting to hear all about the details of her wedding day.

How did your partner propose?

He proposed on the second day of our holiday in Iceland, by some cliffs overlooking the sea. I was so shocked, it took a while to say yes!

How did you go about finding your wedding dress?

I followed the Instagram account of my local wedding dress shop in Lindfield, and did some browsing on Instagram. I booked an appointment at that same wedding dress shop, but also got a recommendation to take a look at Fross by a friend who found her dress there – I followed it online and booked an appointment too. I did Google ‘wedding dress shop + Sussex’, but it turns out I didn’t need anywhere else, as I found my perfect dress at my first visit at Fross!

How many dresses did you try on before you found ‘the one’?

Do you know the name of your dress designer?

What made you fall in love with the dress that you chose?

I instantly felt amazing in it. Though it was much too big, I still felt elegant, confident, and like a bride – which none of the other dresses made me feel. It felt like me, and I could picture myself walking own the aisle and having my wedding day in it ☺

Did you wear a veil and/or any other bridal accessories?

I didn’t have a veil, but chose 2 small hair accessories.

Tell us a little about your wedding day – the vibe, what inspired you, etc.

We wanted a really relaxed day with little pressure and grandeur. We opted for a barn venue in the countryside, which was informal, but impressive at the same time. It was very flexible with 2 barns, lots of beautiful outside spaces, and an undercover outside space (important to have in England!).

The barns were so beautiful that they needed very little extra dressing, so the flowers were the main other expense (apart from food!). Again, we didn’t want anything too formal, and chose a loose garland down the banquet table instead of centrepieces, and our bouquets were loose – my bridal one had draping foliage off the main flowers, thistles and eucalyptus. We went for a subtle colour scheme of Iceland – blues, greens, white and greys – to reflect where we got engaged, which tied all the small details together.

What was your favourite moment from the day itself?

The ceremony – though we couldn't have readings due to COVID, it was actually really fun, and the pianist really topped it everything off, it was so emotional, but we didn’t cry, just happiness! The confetti walk, and then arch of sparklers to say goodbye at the end of the evening were also a highlight – everyone together, having fun and wishing us the best.

Is there any advice you would be happy to share with other brides?

With COVID in particular, really reflect on what’s actually important to you, and try not to get wrapped up in all the extras and unnecessary expense that you think you ‘need’ or have to have. What are the ‘essentials’ to your day and why? Sticking to these will ensure you have the most wonderful day, with as little stress or unnecessary spending as possible. Small and intimate days are underrated, and help to put everything in perspective ☺

Are you taking a honeymoon and if so when (in relation to your wedding, ie, immediately after, or sometime later) and what are your plans?

We spent a week in a luxury hotel in the Lake District, on the shores of Lake Windermere – absolutely beautiful! We travelled up 2 days after the wedding itself.
