We caught up with Fross bride Alyssa to find out all about her summer wedding at the East Sussex National
, and her Stella York
ballgown wedding dress!
How did your partner propose?
My partner and I go on a holiday every year with my family to the Norfolk Broads, he knows how much they mean to me and I would want them there.
In the morning me and my oldest niece would take the curtains down in the boat as we were doing so I turned to my niece and wondered why so many people were pointing at the boats docked (ours and my parents being two them), thinking nothing of it I carried on.
We continued to take the curtains down and the boat behind us had a massive banner on the front saying 'Will you marry me?' I was showing my niece and at the time hadn't made the connection it was my parents boat I turned around to see the rest of my family outside the boat waving and my partner out of no where on one knee!
What’s the best piece of advice you received in the run up to the big day?
Everyone always tells you not to please other people it's your day which is very true but to have the perfect day there almost needs to be an element of keeping people a little happy!
The best advice I got was from my sister who got married almost 16 years ago! She said to me the day goes so quickly at some point during the day, she recommended the best time was when everyone was sitting down eating just to sit back and properly take it all in and scan the room! I did this and that memory of pure happiness will stick with me!
How did you go about finding the perfect wedding dress?
Fross came highly recommended and I was always drawn in with their amazing window displays. I had been to two other bridal shops prior going to Fross and the experience was just not the same! Fross and her team make you feel so welcome and comfortable and that nothing was a problem and really gave me the time to try on dresses and choose. I feel the team at Fross get to know you and remembered me every time I went into the shop on the lead up to my wedding!
How many dresses did you try on before finding The One?
I had been to two previous shops before Fross and didn't try on many dresses whilst I was there as I really did not enjoy the experience, when I came to Fross I must of picked out about 10 dresses one which I had seen on the internet and loved so I tried it on first. After trying on all the other dresses I came back to the original dress I tried on and I just knew that was The One! It was a traditional ball-gown style wedding dress by Stella York
, with an illusion lace neckline and a diamante beaded belt.
What made you fall in love with the dress you chose?
I loved the detail of the top of my dress and I really wanted straps but not thin spaghetti like ones something really elegant and this dress was perfect!
What bridal accessories did you choose?
I got a beautiful hand made veil from Fross with swarovski crystals hand sewn on and an amazing tiara from Fross.
Tell us about your wedding day.
My wedding day was amazing, it was the hottest day of the year and the England was playing in the world cup against Sweden so not sure if that was really poor planning! Haha but it almost made the day whilst we went off for photos there was an amazing atmosphere back in the reception area with everyone watching England win! The song that will always be remembered from our wedding day will be come on England! Lucky me haha!
What was your favourite moment from your big day?
My best moment was seeing my husband for the first time in the church and him just mouthing the words 'you look beautiful' to me
What theme did you pick for the wedding?
We didn't really have a set these just really elegant pink, blue and rose gold
What advice would you give to other brides-to-be?
Just enjoy it because it goes so quick and try not to get too stressed out!
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We did a tour down the West Coast of America from San Francisco all the way to Vegas in a Mustang was the best experience!
