We caught up with Fross bride Carla to find out all about her traditional Cypriot wedding and figure-hugging Justin Alexander
How did your partner propose?
My husband had made me a video for my proposal. He put together all the videos and pictures we had taken, he also got people he knew around the world to pose with a sign saying "YES". He then played this for me just after my birthday and got down on one knee.
What’s the best piece of advice you received in the run up to the big day?
The best piece of advice I received was to take a step back, relax and take it all in as the day would just fly by.
How did you go about finding the perfect wedding dress?
It took me a very long time to find the perfect dress, however when I stepped into Fross I knew I would find what I was looking for.
How many dresses did you try on before finding The One?
I must have been to about 6 or 7 shops and tried on 5 or 6 at each before I went to Fross. I eventually chose a floral embroidered lace fit-and-flare wedding gown by Justin Alexander, with a sweetheart neckline.
What made you fall in love with the dress you chose?
The reason why I fell in love with my dress is because it was just very different to what I had tried on before. The lace on it looked perfect and I then had it costumed the way I wanted it.
What bridal accessories did you choose?
I had a diamante head piece on that I purchased from Fross and matching necklace and earrings by parents had gifted to me when I got engaged.
Tell us about your wedding day.
My big day was quite stressful as I was at the venue getting ready whilst people were setting up the marquee. I had this picture in my head of how I wanted everything to be but every time I went to look and make sure it was the way I wanted; I was being stopped. It rained the whole day- so we had to cancel the helicopter we had booked and also couldn't take any pictures outside. However, everyone tried to make sure nothing else was spoilt. We still went ahead with the fireworks at the end of the evening, this was simply magical and actually bought a tear to my eye. We had a very traditional Cypriot wedding, with the big drums playing when we walked in and the breaking of the clay pots & money pinning on the bride and groom.
What was your favourite moment from your big day?
My favourite moment was of course walking down the aisle and also the fireworks we had.
What theme did you pick for the wedding?
We didn't really have a theme for the wedding, we just went for the traditional wedding.
What advice would you give to other brides-to-be?
To not stress as it really is not worth it. The day is over with in a flash so make sure you enjoy every minute of it, people say it goes by quick and believe me it does.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
For our honeymoon we jetted off to LA & Hawaii- Maui.
