Valentine’s Love Story Competition Winner

Many Congratulations to the lovely Lydia and her soon to be husband Tom on their winning Love Story! We loved how you met and your story so far! We wish you all the best and hope to see you soon to try on some wedding dresses!

Here is their winning story!

We met at a festival….

Despite living in the same city for over 2 years whilst I was at university and often visiting the same bars and clubs tom and I actually met in a muddy field at Creamfields festival in August 2011. I was heading into my 3rd year of training to be a midwife in Birmingham and tom was on summer holidays from his university in Cheltenham. We met on the first morning of the festival when Tom and his friends pitched their tent next to ours…we were inseparable the whole weekend. When his friends had to leave a day early he decided to hitch a lift home with me and my friends (I like to think this was for me but most likely so he didn’t miss out on the final night of music!)

I didn’t think I would see him again when we dropped him at his family home in Solihull, expecting it to be a silly weekend fling- little did I know the next day he would ask me on a date and would end up staying the next week at my university house! When he went back to start his 3rd year of university I wasn’t sure how things would go.. five and a half years later down the line and were still together! We’ve managed two years of long distance, me being in Manchester,  Tom between Cheltenham and Birmingham. Two and a half years ago we moved to London together and have since worked and lived in Angel. We went on a camping trip to Devon in the summer which coincided with our five year anniversary. We were away with our closest friends having a brilliant time when Tom wanted to take me for a walk (he knows I’m a sucker for a coast walk). We sat on a bench at the cliff edge watching the sunset with no one around for miles when Tom got down on one knee and popped the question- it was a huge surprise! We spent an hour together drinking champagne and enjoying the moment (me in shock and not wanting to share the news just yet) but once I starting phoning friends and family I couldn’t stop! The love and support from everyone has been incredible and has made this exciting time even more special! We plan to marry in a countryside barn in Stratford upon Avon summer 2018. Next on the list for me… wedding dress shopping…
